Can't Save Powerpoint Because It's Read Only
Hi,
I would similar to know the file size of the problem file.
Was at that place any updates installed.
Is the calculator connected to a domain network?
Let us open up a new PowerPoint certificate, click on file----open -----browse to the location where the problem certificate is located and open and bank check.
Let us also check if the document is marked equally final. If yes then unlock a document that'south marked as last to make it writable again.
To do that open up the problem certificate, click on file---info---protect presentation---mark as last.

No updates installed during editing: Computer was reformatted and brought fully up to date final month, no updates since.
Reckoner is sometimes continued to a domain network: this problem happens when online and offline. File is not shared and is stored locally.
File volition open up with equally read only from new window.
Document is not marked equally terminal. Not sure how it would all of a sudden become marked as terminal while I'thou working on it but I double checked.

This issue is at present fixed in build 16.0.6965.2082 and later. To get the latest updates, click File > Account > Update Options > Update Now.

Howdy Erik and others from MS team,
I started facing the exact same effect - that Powerpoint reports .PPTX file is read only and doesn't even allow to save with a new proper name - since 13th April, 2017 and a prior twenty-four hours before, everything was working fine.
I am on version xvi.0.6965.2105 (which Powerpoint reports is the latest version), and take tried repairing (both quick and detailed 1), re-installing Function 3565 ProPlus, restarting Windows, using Attrib control to modify the attributes of files and folders, but cypher has helped so far. I have lost close to 12-15 hours in trying to resolve the consequence!
I am able to create a new file, particularly .PPT, but cannot edit my existing files (.PPTX). Copying a .PPTX file in Explorer and using the new file likewise doesn't help either. The but piece of work around accept found is that I create a blank presentation, delete the default slide, and re-create over all the slides from existing PPTX, paste it in the blank presentation and salvage it, which is likewise archaic!
Can someone signal a permanent solution/fix to it?

it's January 2018, with frequent update on Mircrosoft and the problem is still not stock-still!!!
The same read-just box appears. I have to save equally in order to salvage the piece of work. Yet, when I open the new file that I have but saved every bit, all the pictures/photos cannot be seen. Where the photos are supposed to appear, at that place are error boxes.
This is really really annoying and time-consuming. Mircrosoft Please HELP!

I take encountered this problem likewise. You tin can duplicate the file on the deejay (copy and paste it). Open up the re-create and delete all the slides. On the certificate that is stuck read only, select all the slides and copy them. Paste the slides into the new file copy yous made. Save the re-create.

I have this trouble and i'm on version 16.9. I updated and at present i'm receiving cannot save considering of read-but. I'm NEVER updating once more
